This lists every page from the OP of unknown scratch pages and whether they exist or not on this site as of writing this post (2026-10-18). More than half do not exist. About half of the ones that do exist are static Scratch-WWW pages, most of the rest are obscure ScratchR2 pages implemented in apiclone. A lot of what's listed doesn't really need to exist here.

Do note that most subdomains are under /hosts/ here:
  • api.scratch.mit.edu -> /hosts/api/
  • assets.scratch.mit.edu -> /hosts/assets/
  • backpack.scratch.mit.edu -> /hosts/backpack/
  • clouddata.scratch.mit.edu -> /hosts/clouddata/
  • projects.scratch.mit.edu -> /hosts/projects/
  • uploads.scratch.mit.edu -> /hosts/uploads/
  • wiki.scratch.mit.edu -> https://wiki.scr.chipmunk.land/

Subdomains not listed above might not exist or I just haven't found them.
Be warned that links are Scratch-WWW if the page doesn't exist on ScratchR2.

  • /scratch2/ - 404

It's /scratch2/104/adminpanel/, though /scratch2/104/ also works on scratch.mit.edu. (104 is the project id)

  • download.scratch.mit.edu - Host doesn't exist

Just use the official download domain.

  • /ban_appeal/ - 404

That's a weird way of spelling /accounts/banned-response/

  • /emails/welcome/any/1/ - 404

  • /emails/welcome/abc/1/ - 404.

Email verification is not implemented

(visible confustion)

1 wrote:

  • cat.scratch.mit.edu - Host doesn't exist. Doesn't display a web page on real Scratch.

"Server unreachable" is not my definition of a useful domain.

Then why are they here?

  • blog.scratch.mit.edu/2009/05/friends-curators-and-design-studio-and.html - Host doesn't exist. Hasn't existed on real Scratch for years.
  • […]
  • sip.scratch.mit.edu - Host doesn't exist. Defunct on real Scratch for a couple years now
  • […]
  • /password_required/ - 404. Removed on real Scratch a couple years ago, used to be left over from the Scratch 2.0 alpha site.

Then why would they exist here? Also, password_required was also on the Beta, so it's kinda weird that they had the Alpha one in 2024.

  • vision.scratch.mit.edu - Host doesn't exist. Real wiki says its use is unknown.

Have you tried pinging it? It doesn't exist on scratch.mit.edu either.

  • /help/scratch-alpha-help/ - 404. Removed on real Scratch a couple years ago.

Implemented in upstream since it's useful for the Alpha theme.

That's a 404 on real Scratch…

  • /discuss/post/id/delete/ - exists but I don't have permission so it just redirects to the post. 405 on Scratch.
  • /discuss/admin/ajax/delete-all-posts/griffpatch/ - 404.

Now that's interesting… For the second one, I think you found the real link for s2forums' "ban_forum_spammer"! Congrats!

  • /scratch-admin/ pages (/homepage/clear-cache/, /page/clear-anon-cache/, /ip-search/, /email-search/, /tickets/ - 404. On real Scratch, blocked without VPN, redirects to /login/ for non-admin users.

We do not use a VPN for admins here.

  • /site-api/users/set-template-cue/ - 404.

Would be used if the "Welcome to Scratch" thing on the homepage was implemented in ScratchR2, but I kinda just forgot about it.

  • /discuss/topic/id/delete_posts/ - 403.

Just like on scratch.mit.edu. This used to allow you to view deleted topics.

  • /codingforall/ - 404. microworlds related page

:O

  • A lot of /help/ pages (post) - nearly all 404.

I'm writing that one down…

That's because we have a ScratchR2-only frontend.

On scratch.mit.edu, this redirects to the homepage.

This was written out of curiosity, with no actual expectation for all of this to exist, and an expectation that most of the differences would just amount to "this is a clone of most of ScratchR2 and not a clone of the entirety of Scratch." It wasn't intended for this to come off as a huge load of work or trying to suggest the implementation of random garbage. Really it's impressive how much of ScratchR2 exists in apiclone. As for why some weird non-pages and unnecessary subdomains are listed here, it's just to cover everything I saw on the Scratch forums even if it doesn't make sense for them to be here.

I should've specified but this actually used to be a thing: https://web.archive.org/web/20140413220239/https://scratch.mit.edu/ban_appeal/

If finding means spending 3 hours checking everything from a forum post that already exists then I suppose I did.

Don't worry, static help pages take like ten minutes each to implement. The rest will probably come eventually (some are more useful than others, for instance, the check_password endpoint is used to verify your password before emptying the trash, both are things that do not work on here as of right now)
